Athanasios Tzimouris

Athanasios Tzimouris was born in Kalarrytes and in 1821 he settled in Zakynthos where he died in 1823. He was a silversmith and teacher of silver craft making in the court of Ali Pasha. Today two of his ecclesiastical works still exist. These are respectively two Gospels, one of which is located in Agios Nikolaos Church in Kalarrytes, and the other was created in 1772 and is found in the Diocese of Ioannina. In the bindings of the Gospels the following inscription is seen “Handcrafted in the settlement of Kalarrytes in Ioannina by Athanasios Tzimouris” while the Gospels that we encounter in churches of the Ionian Islands are accompanied by this inscription “Fabrica d Attanasio Zimuri di Calarrito nella provincia d Ipiro.”
