Religious Carols

My ever so small and tiny child
My ever so small and tiny child laying in your cot
Your cot made of gold and your blanket of silver color
The milk that you swallow, a pearl button
Please bathe and comb the child’s hair so to its teacher it may go
The teacher with a small golden stick surprises the child
Its other teacher surprises it with two twigs of musk
My child why aren’t you learning, my child where has your mind gone
The letters are on paper but my mind is beyond
Somewhere far in the distance I see beauty, black-eyed beauties
Whose hair is long, the length of 45 arms
In the heavens they’d leave it loose and in the fields they’d weave it
And in the ocean’s foam they’d cleanse it
Here is where homes are tall
Here is where homes are tall and built with marble
Marble from the outside and gold coated from the inside
My master sleeps inside with sixty lads
Also sleeps our lady with eighteen bags
Awake my lady so that your bay leaves light the oil lantern
So that red, green and black flames shine
And if there’s anything left you’ll tie it in your scarf
And the scarf to the sword and the sword to the saddle
And the saddle on the horse and the horse in the fields
The fields are thirsty for water and the mountains for snow
Thirsty is my horse for some cool grass
And next year when we come we shall find you in good health
