W14: The Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi in Ampelochori

We cross through the settlement of Raftanaion where on the sites of Thiaki and Goura we only encounter ruins and old watermills. Then we continue onto the nearby settlement of Ampelochori that joins the Tzoumerka region with a cluster of settlements known as the Katsanochoria. Here, we see the ruined Ktistou watermill and a stone fountain built in 1930, which is located at just about 200 meters outside the settlement. Once again we observe the local people’s devotion to Saint Paraskevi and Saint Nicholas, the latter being the Patron Saint of sailors and emigrants. The Holy Church of Saint Nicholas was built west of the settlement on an altitude of 1100 meters where one can admire magnificent views.
