The Church of Saint Nicholas in Kalarrytes

Saint Nicholas is the Patron Saint of the Kalarrytes settlement. The Church of Saint Nicholas was built in the 15th century, but more specifically, 1480 is identified as its creation date. In 1821 however, the church burned during the uprising of the settlement’s residents. The Church’s woodwork was created by woodworkers from Metsovo while the central chandelier was made in Trieste and donated by the Nessi family. Among other relics safeguarded in this church are samples of art from the community’s silversmiths and the binding of a gospel which is attributed to Athanasios Tzimouris.
